To Get Started
Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are without a doubt one of Turning Point’s most valuable resources. When you volunteer with Turning Point, you are joining a group of dedicated professionals, volunteers, and survivors who share our vision of a community free from violence and abuse. We look forward to having you join our team!
Ways You Can Help
Perform administrative duties as needed by Turning Point staff, including answering phones, copying, filing, mass mailing, etc.
Offer constructive and age-appropriate activities for the children that we serve at the shelter.
Host client activities such as game night, painting, Yoga, Bible Study, etc. Engaging activities allow our clients to relax and have fun.
Perform routine cleaning at our shelter or Tree House. Assist with lawn care activities such as mulching, pulling weeds, planting flowers, etc. Help with minor repairs as needed such as dry wall, painting, etc.
Provide a nutritious meal for the clients in the shelter. Meals can be homemade or purchased from a restaurant. Provide baked goods such as pies, cakes, cookies, muffins, etc.
Help plan events and fundraisers that directly support Turning Point. Assist with setup and cleanup of events.
Assist our team at one of our three stores by helping with sorting, cleaning, and steaming donations. Assist with flipping store merchandise during seasonal changes.
Educate the community about domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse, by distributing Turning Point literature to local businesses, organizations, and community events.
Provide hospital accompaniment and/or advocacy for a crisis response to individuals who have experienced sexual assault. Additional training is required for this volunteer opportunity.
