Children who are exposed to high levels of ongoing violence, such as domestic violence within their home, are likely to experience the following:
- Higher levels of aggression
- Oppositional behavior
- Disobedience
- Fear
- Anxiety
- Withdrawal
- Depression
- Low self-esteem
- Lower cognitive functioning
- Poor school performance
- Lack of conflict resolution skills
- Increased tolerance for use of violence
