In Kind Donation Projects

Turning Point exists to end domestic abuse, sexual assault, and child abuse through safe shelter, advocacy, prevention, and social change.

Welcome Bags

When clients arrive at our Domestic Violence shelter, they often come needing the most basic of necessities.  Upon arrival, every adult and child receives a bag of needed items.  By providing these items, you provide a sense of normalcy, independence and security.  Items needed for adults include body wash, lotion, body spray, hand sanitizer, hairbrushes, socks, other toiletry items, notepads, small blankets, etc.  Items needed for children include activity books, gel pens, adult coloring books (for older kids), craft kits, slime, toddler cups, etc.  For a more complete list, please contact Kristen at kdickson@turntoday.net  or 704.288.1815

Blessing Bags/Boxes

The healing process can be a difficult journey for our clients.  While they work to restore their lives, we love to provide them with Goody Bags throughout their stay at the shelter or while they are receiving services at the Tree House.  There are a wide range of options here as sometimes bags are given out on a regular day or on a holiday such as a birthday, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Mother’s Day, etc.  This donation option allows you to be creative.  There is no set list of items.  To set up a Blessings Bag/Box donation, please contact Mary at moakley@turntoday.net or 704-283-1507.

Court Care Kits

When a sexual assault survivor goes to court, it can be mentally and physically draining.  Our advocate is there to support our survivor clients and we like to provide them with an extra goody, our Court Care Kit.  This is full of goodies to help comfort and support them during this difficult time.  Items needed: Chapstick, tissues, notepads, pens, gum, mints, stress balls, small decorative/cloth bags to put items in, etc.

Hero Parties

If you are looking for a way to support children who have experienced sexual or physical abuse, then this is the perfect opportunity.  Once a child has completed the judicial process for their case, our Tree House staff celebrates them for their bravery and courage.  You can provide the decorations, food, and a gift to help their family celebrate the closing of a difficult chapter.  Items needed include a cake, food of the child’s choice for 12-15 people, decorations, a gift for the child, etc.  You can donate the items or come and setup/decorate for the event.  Hero Parties are scheduled throughout the year, based on the finalization of the court proceedings.  If you are interested, please contact Brook at bhelms@turntoday.net.

Adopt a Room

When a client moves into our Domestic Violence Shelter, we strive to provide them with a homey and comfortable environment.  You can adopt their room by providing items such as twin size comforters and sheet sets, a 5×7 matching rug, 84” matching 2 panel curtains, bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, shower curtains, and any other decorative décor.  Contact Kristen at  kdickson@turntoday.net

Adopt a Family for Christmas

You can adopt a family from our Domestic Violence Shelter or Tree House Children’s Advocacy Center during the holiday season.  You will receive names, ages, and a wish list.  You can then purchase and wrap gifts for your adopted family or client.  This is one of our favorite projects of the year and is the perfect way to support our clients.  Families and names are available in November of each year. Contact Mary at moakley@turntoday.net

Make a Meal

Provide a meal and dessert for our clients in the shelter.  Meals can be homemade or from a restaurant.  Meal should be dropped off at 5 pm on your scheduled day.  To schedule a meal drop off, contact Mary at moakley@turntoday.net or 704-283-1507.
